  • Multinational cybercrime gang arrested in Spain’s Costa del Sol



    A group of ten criminals have recently been arrested in the Costa del Sol area of Spain. These ten are from varying countries and are said to have been running a ransomware scam. The arrests were made by Europol, the European police agency and follow the arrest of the head of the network who was taken into custody last month while in Dubai. The head of the network is reportedly from Russia and this latest round of ten includes two Ukrainians, two Georgians and an additional six from Russia.

  • NASA may have found Milky Way’s newest black hole



    NASA has stated that it might have found the Milky Way’s youngest black hole in the remnants of an exploding star. Although it isn’t entirely certain this is the case, saying that the evidence is “a bit circumstantial”, all signs point to such a reality, giving researchers the opportunity to study the creation of a black hole from a supernova.

  • Blackberry’s celebrity director Alicia Keys tweets with iPhone, blames it on hacker



    Blackberry is one of several to sign on a celebrity to help push its platform, having recently announced that Alicia Keys is its new Global Creative Director with the launch of Blackberry 10. All was well for a couple weeks until tweets surfaced under Keys’ Twitter account from an iPhone, her previous handset of choice. According to the singer, she was hacked.

    The US is under sustained attack from a vast cyber-espionage campaign that, though broadly invisible to the public, has the potential to significantly threaten the economic performance of the country as a whole, according to a new report. China is the most active of the hacking culprits, sources tell the Washington Post having had privileged access to the new National Intelligence Estimate, but are not alone in targeting fields as broad as energy, finance, and technology in the hunt for a commercial edge. As well as technological methods of defense, the US is also apparently considering more unusual strategies to battle the growing number of state-led attacks.
